77. Gauguin in Africa, From The Journey Is The Destination by Dan Eldon.
Travelling. Liberté, Egalité, Safari. And documenting those travels, those safaris, in journals that define what travel journals can be. Starting with the idea that they can be art.
Genius.
Thinking maybe I'll do both Borroloola and Broome, keeping extensive journals, using photographs and artefacts and whatever I might write, and whatever else might turn up along the way. So I might take the Threeways turnoff a little north of Tennant Creek instead, and yep, I can truly say I'll be gettin' my kicks on Highway 66, at least as far as the Barkly Roadhouse, where I'll be turning left to Borroloola up the Tablelands Highway. Then after the slab is done, driving back via the Mataranka route, and I'll most likely stop at the hot springs.
