81. The Pogues. The sort-of-cover for the 12" vinyl version of Misty Morning Albert Bridge. While the same image graced the cover, the sticker promised that within was a limited edition "Albert Bridge" print. Yes, I got in fast for this one. The print is tones of black and white, while for some reason the cover is sepia-toned.
And I would like to imagine that my deep and abiding love for The Pogues has little to do with my totally objective thinking this is one of the greatest photographs of all time. Luckily, the song being as brilliant as the photograph is an added bonus.
So, if you'll excuse me for just one moment, I'm about to break into song .. ahem ..
I dreamt we were standing
By the banks of the Thames
Where the cold grey waters ripple
In the misty morning light
Held a match to your cigarette
Watched the smoke curl in the mist
Your eyes, blue as the ocean between us
Smiling at me ..
And the last time I sang this aloud, was here, at Albert Bridge, being on a pilgrimage of sorts along the Thames, but unfortunately nobody needed their cigarettes lit.
